Assessing the SoC of Lithium batteries requires the use of a more sophisticated meter that measures not only the battery voltage, but also the current flowing into and out of the battery. Lithium batteries however maintain a fairly constant voltage over their period of discharge, making an assessment of their State of Charge (SoC) based on a simple voltage reading impracticable. This voltage / charge relationship permits an assessment of the State of Charge of an AGM battery based on its voltage. The voltage output from AGM batteries declines in a reasonably linear fashion as the batteries discharge. Most Campervans and Motorhomes are fitted with some sort of meter that monitors the battery’s state of charge – a fuel gauge for your 12V energy supply.įor vans with AGM batteries this is most likely a voltmeter, which simply displays the voltage of the battery/s. This monitor makes all that info available at the touch of a button. No more guessing how much current is being consumed by appliances, or how much current is being recharged to the batteries, or wondering about the batteries’ state of charge. Included is a high-definition backlit LCD monitor, a 20ft shielded cable, a 3ft 20AWG B+ wire, a 500A shunt/sampler, a transparent shunt/sampler holder, installation screws, a registration booklet, as well as an instruction booklet.Sustainability: Batteries & Solar | Water | Heatingīatteries | Consumption | Battery Recharging | Solar Charging | How Long Without Sun? | Alternate Charging Options | Solar Regulators | The Bottom Line Furthermore, the small size of this monitor makes it easy to install in a small and inconspicuous area so that it doesn't get in the way. The backlit LCD display features high-definition and a customizable brightness setting. The battery monitor also offers several pleasant quality-of-life features, such as programmable high and low-voltage capacity alarms that can help protect you from battery over-discharge. This battery monitor is compatible with most battery types, including Lead Acid, Lithium Iron Phosphate, Lithium-ion, and Nickel-Metal Hybrid batteries. It also displays the capacity percentage of your battery, whether it is charging or discharging power, and the remaining time it will take for the battery to fully drain or charge. This 500A Battery Monitor provides accurate real-time information about your battery's capacity, voltage, current, and wattage. It has been engineered to help you easily and conveniently monitor the condition of your battery at a quick glance without getting in the way. This battery monitor is built with a shunt-type battery design. That is where RecPro and our new 500A Battery Monitor come in! However, if you are not careful and do not monitor how much power you are using, you may end up draining your battery and having no power left to use. Due to how useful electricity is when RVing, many enthusiasts have batteries on their rigs. You can run RV appliances such as refrigerators, TVs, lights, and more with electricity. But when traveling with your RV or boondocking with your travel trailer, electricity becomes a rare and precious resource. Electricity is a plentiful commodity in most places.
